And so it begins...
After months of build up and a full week of last minute details/purchases/packing/organizing, our trip finally began. My family isn't short on ceremony so we've been celebrating and commemorating this moment for months, but topped it off with an exploding bottle of champagne on Friday night before shoving off last Saturday morning.
We're headed south to visit my adopted Grandma Eloise (winter Texan) and hit the pool and soak up some rays before we head west into uncharted territory. Our first stop was half way to her, at Lake Corpus Christi State Park. Thanks to all of the build up, this first destination felt a lot less than glamorous. Turned out to be exactly right, the perfect first stop.
We had zero expectations, but found serenity, beautiful bird watching, hammock swinging, kitchen dance parties and slow family walks.
Sophia LOVES to fish, but lost interest quickly when they weren't biting.
We put up our new hammock and spent lots of time playing there. Sophia brought me this treasure that I believe she called a "mustard trophy?"
Lastly, I caught pictures of the kids together. My little tree climbers. Also he cuddles with her now. I melt.
Forward onward.
