hi and good-bye to New Mexico
after deciding to head through El Paso for shopping instead of heading north from Balmorhea to Carlsbad, we found an RV park in Las Cruces, New Mexico. it's just 35 minutes north of El Paso, and made for an easy day trip to White Sands.
the whole time we were in Las Cruces, Ben and I tried to figure out what to explore next in New Mexico. but the weather! we happened to be there for the week of unusually cold weather...we wanted to go north towards the mountains and the Gila National Forest, but the lows were in the teens. and y'all, apparently we're fair weather campers. and wimps.
so we went further west (and down in elevation a little) to Roper Lake State Park, Arizona. Hi New Mexico. Bye New Mexico!
this ended up being a lovely surprise, lucky park pick. a hot springs tub the kids could swim in. a small lake to kayak and fish, and beautiful mountain views. and here the high temps were in the 50s and the lows, just at freezing.
Cold mornings meant indoor crafts while we were here. This particular morning we applied Finding Dory temporary tattoos and put stickers on bracelets.
When we ventured outside, Sophia's bike needed 2 new tubes thanks to the "goathead" stickers in Las Cruces. And while they did a project, I ran.
Next stop, southern Arizona to see family. And what a treat it will be.
Love you all,
KG
